🗣️ The workshop will be held in English and Latvian
In this workshop, children will dive into the world of the Bauhaus, a famous German art and design school that turned simple shapes, bright colors, and bold patterns into something completely new. We’ll discover the role of women at the Bauhaus, who often worked in textiles, weaving and experimenting with design that still inspires us 100 years later. Then, through a hands-on zine-making session, participants will choose from ten creative Bauhaus-inspired activities: designing shape-stories, weaving with paper, inventing Bauhaus beasts, or even writing their own mini-manifesto. The result will be a personal zine full of imagination, play, and color, just like the Bauhaus believed art should be.
Recommended age: 8–10 years
The workshop will be led by Estere Kajema. Estere Kajema is a writer, researcher, and curator based in London. She holds a BA, MA, and MRes in Contemporary Art Theory from Goldsmiths, University of London. Her work focuses on art, cultural history, and research into heritage and hauntology. She has developed exhibitions, educational programs, and creative workshops that bring historical ideas into dialogue with contemporary audiences. Estere’s research often explores how art and design intersect with everyday life.
