As part of the exhibition The Whole World a Bauhaus, Zuzeum Art Museum invites you to a guided tour with Estere Kajema, during which she will provide a brief insight into the exhibition and introduce her research on Bauhaus women.

In addition to the core exhibition, two curators were invited to develop contributions closely related to the Riga context. These two perspectives are also reflected in the different titles: Boris Friedewald’s contribution, “6 Bauhaus Women from Riga”, traces the biographical paths of the Riga-born artists Ida Engelien, Toni von Haken-Schrammen, Ida Kerkovius, Ljuba Monastirskaja, Tonja Rapoport, and Harriet von Rathlef-Keilmann, based on documents and works of art. All of these women studied at the Bauhaus in Weimar or Dessau.

Estere Kajema, in her article “A Bauhaus of One’s Own”, focuses on three of these women – Ljuba Monastirskaja, Tonja Rapoport, and Harriet von Rathlef-Keilmann – presenting selected aspects of their lives from an individual curatorial perspective.

Estere Kajema is a writer, researcher, and curator based in London. She holds a BA, MA, and MRes in Contemporary Art Theory from Goldsmiths, University of London. Her work focuses on art, cultural history, and research into heritage and hauntology. She has developed exhibitions, educational programs, and creative workshops that bring historical ideas into dialogue with contemporary audiences. Estere’s research often explores how art and design intersect with everyday life.
