As part of the public programme for the exhibition Spaceship Earth, architect and editor Madli Kaljuste will give a lecture Notes on Drawing the World.

How do we draw the world we inhabit – and how do these drawings, models, and visions in turn shape the ways we live within it? The evening of tales will explore themes, drawings, doings and projects related to seeing, perceiving and deceiving the world – through stories that connect architectural thinking with the ways we understand and represent our surroundings.

About the lecturer

Madli Kaljuste is a curious and sometimes inpatient architect, who teaches, draws, writes and reads. She is currently an editor of Estonian Architectural Review MAJA, but has also worked as a project manager, translator, a cleaner – all of which she deems related to her wider practice and doings.

She studied architecture and urban planning in Estonian Academy of Arts (EKA) and Oslo School of Architecture (AHO). Graduating in 2020, her thesis “Planners house” was awarded with the student prize 2020 by the Estonian Association of Architects and looked into prevailing attitudes towards existing environments in (modern) architectural thinking and drawings. Themes of which are still relevant in her work and that will be explored in Riga.

In 2025 she co-curated an exhibition 30×30 diving into the architectural graphics archive of the past 50 years in EKA.
