Eric Giraudet de Boudemange is currently an artist-in-residence at TUR, where he is developing a new work for the upcoming group exhibition Under the Sun — a collaboration between TUR and 1646, a contemporary art space from The Hague.

Originally from France and now based in the Netherlands, Giraudet’s interdisciplinary practice spans installation, sculpture, video, and performance. Rooted in field research and guided by an anthropological sensibility, his work explores the interconnections between landscape, ritual, and identity. Drawing from vernacular knowledge, folkloric traditions, and personal experience, he constructs layered narratives that question how culture, ecology, and memory circulate through place.

Raised in a farming family in France, Giraudet frequently returns to themes of land use, vegetal growth, and embodied knowledge. Over time, his work has evolved toward an increasingly intimate and introspective register, blending ecological reflection with the emotional terrains of fatherhood, inheritance, and resilience. His installations oscillate between the grotesque and the poetic, marked by dark humour and tactile visual language.

Giraudet studied at the École des Beaux-Arts (Paris), Le Fresnoy – Studio national des arts contemporains (Tourcoing), and the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten (Amsterdam). His work has been presented in solo exhibitions at Galerie Martin van Zomeren (Amsterdam), La Villa du Parc (Annemasse), and the Fries Museum (Leeuwarden), and in group exhibitions at the Stedelijk Museum, Centre Pompidou, and A Tale of a Tub.

Across these contexts, Giraudet continues to build idiosyncratic systems of meaning that challenge conventional understandings of nature, identity, and place — inviting audiences to reconsider how we live within and narrate the landscapes around us.

At the event, the artist will share insights into his creative process, research, and current residency, offering a glimpse into the new work in progress and the ideas that shape his upcoming project in Riga.
