Public talk with collector Edgar Aronov: how NFTs are changing contemporary art

🗓 Saturday, October 22, 15:00–16:00

Free admission with registration (Google Form)

NFT collector Edgar Aronov has been working in start-ups and digital business for more than ten years. As he has become more active in the international art scene as an advisor to a variety of creative digital projects, his interest in NFTs — non-fungible tokens, or digital assets — also grew. Now he is one of the most active and important collectors of crypto-art in the Baltics.

A selection of Aronov’s NFT collection is currently on view in the exhibition Growing Out? Growing Up? Contemporary Art Collecting in the Baltics at Zuzeum Art Centre in Riga.

Edgar Aronov will talk about how the NFT phenomenon has the potential to redress current problems of artistic production, ownership and collecting, and how it is changing audience engagement with art. Stay for a tour of the exhibition after the conversation*

The conversation will be in English with translation into Latvian. Exhibition tour will be in English.

*Purchase of exhibition ticket required.

The exhibition ‘Growing Out? Growing Up? Contemporary Art Collecting in the Baltics’ introduces to the broad public unique contemporary art collections in the Baltics in the context of social aspects of private collecting. It is one of the first initiatives to unite art collectors in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania and facilitate public and international access to art in private collections and the emerging art infrastructure in the Baltic countries.
