We invite you to Zuzeum children’s art workshops — for children of all ages. Each Sunday, the theme of the class and materials changes.

Upcoming workshops

📅 April:

🌸 Sunday, 7 April at 11.00, a lesson for children aged 4–12
🧑🏼‍🎨 MARIONETTES
The first marionettes, made of clay and ivory, were found in burials in Ancient Egypt. They were used in various rituals with strictly defined movements. Later, mechanical wooden puppets, originally used in performances in Venice, were called marionettes, whose movements were controlled by a manipulator.
In this Sunday’s lesson, the children will design their own marionette – a theatre puppet that can be operated with threads or strings.
🎨 Materials: stiff paper, coloured pencils, felt-tip pens, plastic beads and modelling paste.

🌸 Sunday, 14 April at 11.00, a lesson for children aged 4–12
🧑🏼‍🎨 LUDO
The exhibition “Where to hide!” features the handmade scarves of Zenta Logina and her sister Elīza Atāre.
In this Sunday’s lesson, children will put themselves in the shoes of textile designers. At the beginning of the lesson, we will look at the scarves made by the artists and then create a print design for a fabric bag.
🎨 Materials: paper, graphite pencil, textile bags, stencils, different textile paints

🌸 Sunday, 21 April at 11.00, a lesson for children aged 4–12
🧑🏼‍🎨 FAMILY SCULPTURE
What exactly are sculptures? Sculptures can be made by carving, modelling or placing materials together. They can be made out of stone, wood, clay or any other material the artist wants to use.
In this lesson, children will make their own family members out of different colours of modelling clay.
🎨 Materials: wire, aluminium foil, air-hardening modelling clay.

🌸 Sunday, 28 April at 11.00, a lesson for children aged 4–12
🧑🏼‍🎨 LINE, COLOUR, SHAPE
The artist Rūdolfs Pinnis stands out in the Latvian art scene for his characteristic bright colour palette in both landscape and still life. In May 1929, the artist arrived in Paris, the centre of world art, where he spent 10 years. There he established both personal friendships and professional relationships with prominent figures in European society: directors, artists, writers and others.
In this Sunday class, children will create large-scale compositions. They will use the artist’s characteristic colour palette and means of artistic expression.
🎨 Materials: paper, pastel crayons, hairspray, acrylic markers, glue stick.
