– Remember when I said [..]
– I’ll answer in a week!

During the season of spring, POST is establishing an open studio and exhibition cycle at the Zuzeum Greenhouse, located on Lāčplēša street 101. Each outcome of the cycle will be in dialogue with selected artworks from the collection. Open Studio’s will take place on a biweekly basis. During the second week the outcomes will be made public in the form of exhibitions or happenings. The beginning of each biweekly rotation introduces a new participating artist and their chosen subject from the collection.

A key objective and theme connecting the exhibitions is the weekly time constraint imposed on all participants. The nature of this event remains uncertain, fostering a sense of exploration and discovery.

Zuzeum Art Centre houses the world’s largest private collection of works by Latvian artists, featuring a comprehensive catalogue of art pieces in diverse techniques and styles. The international art section of Zuzāns Collection is also continuously growing with a particular focus on emerging talents reflecting on themes relevant to their time. Altogether the collection consists of more than 30,000 artworks that, aside from curated shows, mostly remain unseen for the public eye.

This project is part of a collaboration between MA POST and Zuzeum Art Centre.

POST is an interdisciplinary master’s specialization in Latvian Art academy which is based on ideas of art in context. The programme seeks to explore and examine how it is possible to study art today, while being simultaneously in Eastern Europe and Northern Europe, a region with different borders characterized by a changing environment and a rich experience regarding the forced use and collapse of global ideologies. MA POST can be perceived as an open study space for various ideas and experiments, moving along in the zigzagged relief of practice.
